 Berk-Tek boasts that some members of its fiber optic cable family exceed the ratified TIA-492AAAD for OM4 specifications. The OM4 is a 50µm laser-optimized fibre that is designed to enhance the system cost benefits enabled by 850 nm VCSELs for existing 1 and 10 Gb/s applications as well as future 40 and 100 Gb/s systems. With an effective modal bandwidth of 4700 MHz*km, it can reach 550m for 10 Gb/s. The other two products included in the family are the GIGAlite-10FB and GIGAlite-10XB.
