Radiodetection says its new RD7000 and RD8000 locators deliver “fast, accurate, reliable and repeatable locate information for all utilities”. The ergonomic features of the RD7000 and RD8000 provide operators with light weight, energy efficiency and good balance (28% lighter than the RD4000). The receiver and transmitter feature a large, high-contrast, backlit LCD screen that provides users with clear information under varying light conditions, and a self-explanatory icon set on the keypad is consistent on both transmitter/receiver. The locators boast an IP54 rating, and are Centros-enabled. eCAL is included with Centros Manager—a Radiodetection applications suite for Microsoft Windows that gives users tools for managing the RD7000 and RD8000 receivers directly from their desktop or laptop computers.

Legrand/Wiremold has introduced three new wireless access point (WAP) enclosures designed specifically for use with the Cisco 1250 Aironet WAP. They conceal the WAP and promise optimal WiFI signal coverage to adjacent spaces while supporting industry-standard PoE (power over ethernet). Two of these new enclosures are for drop ceiling applications, while the third is a wall-mount. WAPE5-1250KITD and 1250KITR provide a 5-in. deep enclosure that fits into a 2 x 2 drop ceiling tile grid. Faceplates allow for mounting the Aironet 1250 WAP using dipole antennas (1250KITD) or remote antennas (1250KITR). The NME1250AP conceals WAPs in a cETL-listed enclosure. The enclosures are supplied with mounting hardware.

Belden has introduced a line of F, BNC and RCA compression connectors and tools, along with the availability of standard and custom-configured cable assemblies.
The compression connectors are tuned to Belden coaxial cable tolerances for “maximum signal reliability and performance for audio/video, safety and security applications,” according to Belden. Also when used with Belden cables, the Limited Lifetime Warranty on the connectors is extended past the regular 10-year warranty. All three types of connectors meet SCTE standards for signal ingress, engress and water migration, and use three 360-degree compression rings for an “exceptional” connection. The BNC and RCA connectors include a pop-up pin that confirms a proper termination and contact point.
There are three new tools as part of Belden’s field-installation solution, which are their new compression tool and two stripping tools. The compression tool features aircraft-grade material and requires less force than most other tools, according to Belden. It requires no calibration when changing connector or cable types and there are no additional dies to purchase. The stripping tools are the standard RG/59U and the RG/6U cable, which have a spring for stripping quad cables and a built-on Flaring tool. Also a lighter model is available called the Mini Coax RGB cable.
Finally the cable assemblies “provide the maximum signal quality and performance,” according to Belden. They are factory-terminated and have a limited lifetime warranty. They include: breakouts, CCTV camera cables, CATV, patch cords, BNC, composite A/V, RCA and RGB.

ComCables has released its first-ever Rapid Punch Tool, which aims to help “low-voltage contractors reduce installation time, create consistent terminations and improve testing results”. The tool is being offered for free when you purchase 50 ComCables high-density Cat 5e or Cat 6 jacks by August 31. The company goes on to say this tool will allow non-traditional cabling contractors (such as those installing IP-based cameras, access control systems and audio-video equipment) to have a reduced learning curve and a stronger sense of comfort using structured cable.

AFL Telecommunications expanded its Interconnect Premise MicroCore cable product line of high-density fiber optic cables: now encompassing up to 48 optical fibers in a single package, the cable has an overall diameter of 4.8 mm and is suited (says AFL) to support array-type MT/MP connectors. Integration of the all-dielectric strength members within the core of the cable enables the potential for direct termination schemes. Additionally, the round construction of this line eliminates concerns, boasts AFL, over preferential bend radii in premise-stacked ribbon designs. The inclusion of OM3 or OM4 laser-optimized 50µm graded-index multimode fibers promises a high-performance connection to meet the bandwidth demands of 40Gb ethernet or greater network architectures.
