The new D-Link DWS-3024L, which supports up to 24 access points (APs), is designed to serve as a centralized wired/wireless controller unit to consolidate security, manage bandwidth and maintain the intelligence of an organization's entire wireless network. In addition to monitoring users' identities and maintaining their authentication as they roam from AP to AP, D-Link says this switch can configure and control all aspects of the wireless APs, including RF channel/power management, wireless traffic segmentation, AP roaming/load balancing, rogue AP detection and AP access security. The DWS-3024L provides 24Gb ports with no restriction on port usage. Each of the ports can connect to a wireless AP, or to a wired LAN device, such as a server, a network storage device or simply another LAN switch.

General Machine Products (GMP) says the powered duct rod pusher offers a mechanized method for working with GMP's ½-in duct rods. It provides an alternative to expensive rodding trucks, which can cause damage to existing cable due to their immense power, says the company. The powered duct rod pusher is hydraulically powered, providing precise control, and can push and pull forces up to 300 lbs.; all the while moving at speeds of up to 130 ft per minute. GMP's powered duct rod pusher comes with a gasoline-driven power pack and hoses; it is mounted on a lightweight, corrosion-resistant steel frame. The company says the unit can be easily and quickly removed from the frame for mounting on trucks or trailers.

3M released the Quick Connect System 2810, which the company says is designed to give local loop providers a simple-to-use, tool-less copper block, and is ideal for inside and outside plant applications. The QCS 2810 is the latest insulation displacement connector termination system from 3M. 3M says the QCS 2810 provides high-integrity connections in the embedded plant, enabling local loop providers to deploy services including VDSL2 into copper-twisted pair cable; this means service providers can deliver high-speed internet services such as data access, video-on-demand and video conferencing over existing copper plant.

MRV says the 8Gbps FC dual transponder module offers customers unrepeated distances of up to 80 km. Fitting into any chassis of the LambdaDriver family, these dense WDM modules feature MRV’s pluggable optics that make its optical transport systems among the most cost-effective solutions on the market, says the company. While it offers the maximum 8Gbps fibre channel rate, the new dual transponder module is backward compatible with existing LambdaDriver systems and features automatic speed selection to also support both 4Gbps and 2Gbps data rates. Customers can upgrade existing systems simply by adding this module to a LambdaDriver chassis and scale the system according to bandwidth needs.
