AFL's FuseConnect fusion-splice field-terminated connectors are now available in LC for 900µm and 2mm cable. With a factory pre-polished end-face, the connector's field-termination process eliminates the need for polishing, adhesives and crimping in the field. The FuseConnect utilizes a fusion splicer to terminate the connector, addressing return/loss concerns present in analog optical networks. Designed to work with a 10-mm cleave length and splicers utilizing a fiber holder system, FuseConnect is compatible not only with Fujikura's fusion splicers, but also with other industry-available, fiber holder-based fusion splicing platforms. Formerly available in SC only, the FuseConnect LC product is now available in single-mode and multimode fiber: 62.55µm, 50µm, and 50µm 10 GIG (OM3).

The MIC DX armored cable is designed for use in riser, plenum and general-purpose environments for intrabuilding backbone and horizontal installations. The cable core is protected by a flexible all-dielectric armor that offers over four times the crush protection compared to unarmored cables, a smaller outside diameter and improved tensile strength, says the company. Corning says the MIC DX armored cable is an innovative cable design that reduces installation time and expense by eliminating the need to ground the cable. Since there are no metallic components within the MIC DX armored cable, accessing the fiber is easier, safer and faster, says Corning.

Corning Cable Systems says the Pretium low-loss OM3 jumpers can greatly reduce outages and degradation in systems caused by severe bending problems. Attenuation loss impacts associated with inadvertent macro-bending events may be reduced by more than 50% when using Pretium low-loss OM3 jumpers with ultra-bend performance in place of traditional 50 µm jumpers, says the company. Corning says severe bending problems that could typically result in a system outage become a non-event when the Pretium Low-loss OM3 Jumpers are deployed in the network.

The new 7732LL cable offers significant performance enhancements over Belden's previous plenum-rated version, especially when deployed in long cable runs for high definition video (HD-SDI) or 1080p/60 applications. Belden says the Brilliance 7732LL offers the longest transmission distance in the industry. The Belden Brilliance plenum-rated RG-11/U type precision digital video coaxial cables feature a 14 AWG solid bare copper conductor, duofoil + 95% tinned copper braid shield, PTFE insulation and fluorocopolymer jacket. They are available in ten colors, including black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, gray and natural.

Firecomms announced the compatibility of its OptoLock fast Ethernet optical transceiver with the Ethernet PHY integrated in Broadcom’s BCM7405 IP set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution. OptoLock promises the quick and easy connection of POF directly to the STB in home networks. The inclusion of OptoLock POF ports directly into the set-top box enables operators and homeowners to quickly lay ultra-thin POF cable, says Firecomms. The company says OptoLock is ideal for fast Ethernet applications with stringent quality of service requirements such as residential gateways, IP set-top boxes and hubs. The design of OptoLock promises the fiber to be cut and terminated to the exact required length on site.

The new cables offer integrated PoE in a single cable, eliminating the need for an external power source. They are designed exclusively for use with digital sound, video and security systems to link low-voltage security devices such as security cameras, CCTV, keypads, and intercoms. The robust value-priced cables, says Belden, enable system designers, integrators and installers to provide their customers with high-quality, reliable sound, video and security systems at a very competitive price point. All four new cables fully meet the ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-2001 Standard; they are available in both riser- and plenum-rated versions.
