Local youth will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in the skilled trades and learn about career opportunities and technology sectors thanks to support from the Government of Canada.

Peace River School Division No. 10 will receive $25,370 through the Government of Canada’s Youth Awareness program to coordinate and co-host the 2010 Northwest Alberta Regional Skills Canada Competition. Regional competitions are designed to promote careers in skilled trades and technology and make them more visible and accessible to youth at the local level. Top performers will earn a spot to compete at the Provincial Skills Canada Competition.

“Peace River School Division, Grand Prairie Regional College and other educational partners from the northwest region are very thankful for the funding received from the Government of Canada’s Youth Awareness program,” said Mr. Aaron Lloyd, administrator, Peace River School Division No. 10. “Trades and technology skills competitions are an excellent opportunity to showcase the talents and skills of our high school students.”
