Videotron will create 500 jobs in Quebec PDF Print E-mail
mt_ignoreVideotron is pursuing its program to create more than 500 full-time positions in 2009. More than 330 full-time jobs are currently available on the Videotron website in every area from engineering and information technology through to customer service, technical support, finance, marketing, construction, network maintenance and human resources.

The construction of the company’s new wireless network—an investment of $800 million to $1 billion—will create several hundred new jobs at Videotron over the next two years. Mainly in the engineering and IT areas, these positions will be in addition to hundreds of openings for other corporate projects and the jobs created by companies that will work on construction of the network.

“In this period of economic uncertainty, Videotron is glad it can make positive contributions to the Quebec economy by creating a significant number of jobs and solid career opportunities,” said Robert Dépatie, president and CEO. “Since Videotron enhanced its focus on customers in 2003, we have virtually doubled our team to more than 4200 individuals.”

Videotron has invested more than half a million dollars in the past year for training and development in a range of areas including customer service, technical support and management skills. The company says it also offers many opportunities for promotion and encourages employees who want to advance their careers at Videotron. “Compensation includes attractive salaries as well as bonuses, a retirement plan and insurance benefits,” says the company.

The company is seeking candidates with specialized training, such as telecom engineers and IP network and programming analysts, as well as candidates with more generalized backgrounds for positions including customer service representative, technician or kiosk sales agent. As part of its recruiting program, Videotron has also developed partnerships with specialized schools and universities to offer internships and bursaries to interest students in the many telecom industry opportunities.

“Videotron adapts to the needs of employees and sets up programs based on today’s realities and needs for greater flexibility such as compressed work weeks and telework,” said Mr. Dépatie.
